One thing is certain: German consumers will have to adjust to higher prices in the future – and probably not just for petrol or electricity.

Food manufacturers also want to push through higher prices for their goods.

Most recently, it was the meat industry that warned of expensive raw materials and increased energy costs in fire letters - so meat could soon become more expensive in retail.

Many a German citizen then probably panicked: In some supermarkets, flour and sunflower oil are said to be missing from the shelves.

Whether some customers really tried to fill up their car with oil is not certain.

But anyone who is already afraid of prices being too high or scarce goods should seriously ask themselves who will really feel the effects of the war: Yes, if wheat becomes more expensive, then we will all feel it.

But we don't all feel it the same way.

If deliveries fail, this leads to supply problems in the poorest regions of the world.

There is already talk of an enormous aggravation of the hunger crisis.

Expensive groceries may be something that German citizens struggle with.

On closer inspection, however, it is only a small price that we have to pay.

We can only hope that he stays this small.
