According to a reporter from Chinanews.com, although Qinghai Province is the birthplace of the Yellow River, Yangtze River and Lancang River, and is known as the "Chinese Water Tower", the spatial and temporal distribution of water resources is extremely uneven, and drought and water shortage are always the basic characteristics of the province.
The so-called "Yellow River Diversion to Jining" project refers to diverting water from the Yellow River to ensure the water demand in the provincial capital Xining and other regions.
A few days ago, the Yellow River Water Conservancy Committee of the Ministry of Water Resources organized a technical review meeting for the feasibility study report of the Jining Project of Yellow River Diversion in Qinghai Province.
The meeting listened to the report of the preparation unit on the relevant achievements of the project feasibility study report. The majors of hydrology, planning, hydraulic engineering, environment, water saving and other majors held group discussions, focusing on the compliance of planning, construction tasks and scale, and project design specifications. Technical discussions and audits were carried out on the main contents such as compliance, water saving evaluation and the impact of project implementation on the ecological environment.
It is reported that the participating experts and representatives agreed that the report meets the depth and relevant requirements of the feasibility study stage.
In the next step, the Yellow Committee will submit the project feasibility study review opinions to the Ministry of Water Resources.
It is reported that since 2018, Qinghai Province has continuously promoted the project of "Diverting Yellow River to Jining".
Zhang Shifeng, director of the Qinghai Provincial Water Conservancy Department, said at the 2022 provincial water conservancy work conference that in 2022, it is necessary to continue to improve the top-level design of water conservancy development, plan the layout of the water network, and advance the early stage of the project.
We will make every effort to advance the preliminary work of the Yellow River Jining Project, and strive to start construction within this year.
