By the end of 2020, the global installed capacity of energy storage is 191GW. With the acceleration of global energy transformation and the continuous deepening of the industrialization of 5G base stations, by 2030, the installed capacity of global energy storage may reach more than 350 GW.

Safety is the bottom line of energy storage development

At present, there are many types of energy storage technologies, various application scenarios, and good and bad energy storage effects. However, there is no clear and scientific energy storage industry technical standards and acceptance standards. It is difficult for customers to identify the technical differences and product advantages and disadvantages of various energy storage batteries. The price of energy storage batteries as a selection criterion will easily lead to disorderly competition in the market, which is not conducive to the healthy development of the energy storage industry.

  Zhang Tianren said that the safety of energy storage systems is a systematic project. It is recommended that relevant departments pay attention to the risk analysis of the whole life cycle of energy storage systems and control methods with lower risks, strengthen the research and development of system design safety, and focus on overcoming electrochemical energy storage batteries, energy storage equipment, The standard system of energy storage system integration, inspection and construction, improve the early warning, supervision, operation and maintenance strategies and mechanisms of the EMS energy management system, and promote the establishment of technical standards and specifications for energy storage equipment manufacturing, construction and installation, and operation monitoring.

  Zhang Tianren believes that there are many technical routes for electrochemical energy storage, including high-energy lead-carbon batteries, lithium-ion batteries, and sodium-sulfur batteries.

  Zhang Tianren mentioned that the core requirements of the energy storage system are high safety, long life and low cost. From the perspective of cost, the current lead-acid battery has the lowest cost per kilowatt hour, and has the characteristics of short start-up time, fast response speed, and high safety performance. From the point of view, lead-carbon batteries are the technical route suitable for most storage scenarios.
