The German insurance company covers possible motor liability claims for uninsured Ukrainian cars in Germany.

According to General Manager Jörg Asmussen from the General Association of the German Insurance Industry (GDV), it is important to help the refugees in their terrible situation.

Due to the emergency, according to the GDV, it is conceivable that vehicles will also come to Germany that do not have motor vehicle liability insurance that is valid here - such as the "International Insurance Card for Motor Transport", better known as the "Green Card", or a specially taken out border insurance.

Driving on the road is actually not allowed in Germany without valid insurance cover.

"In this humanitarian emergency, we want to help Ukrainian refugees to focus on the essentials," explained Asmussen in Berlin.

The assumption of the damage is initially valid until May 31, 2022. According to the GDV, the settlement will be made via the Green Card Office.

This is where injured parties should go after an accident for quick, uncomplicated processing.

The umbrella organization pointed out that injured parties are protected within the framework of the applicable minimum coverage amount.

This is 7.5 million euros for personal injury, 1.22 million euros for property damage and 50,000 euros for financial losses.
