Brandon Sanderson had set a goal of a million dollars in 30 days.

He put it together in 35 minutes.

After launching his crowdfunding campaign on the Kickstarter site on March 1, this famous fantasy author generated $20 million in just five days, reports The Verge relayed by Slate.

Originally from Nebraska, the author is known for having published dozens of novels including

Son of the Mists

,

Alcatraz

 and

 The Roshar Archives

.

To encourage his fans to participate, the writer promised them the publication in 2023 of four unpublished novels, written during the pandemic.

Internet users also had the opportunity to finance a "Year of Sanderson" box containing the four books as well as eight boxes of the author's various series.

Over 106,000 contributors to date

With more than 106,000 contributors to date, the writer has largely beaten the platform record previously held by the Pebble Time watch which, financed in 2016 by 78,471 people, had enabled its promoters to collect 20.3 million dollars.

The sum raised by Brandon Sanderson has now crossed the bar of 25 million dollars, or more than 23 million euros.

And there are 24 days left before the end of the campaign.
