“Viza Payment System LLC hereby announces the suspension of the participation of all Russian participants in the Visa payment system,” RIA Novosti reports.

As specified, the acceptance of requests for authorization of Russian participants will be stopped from 00:01 Moscow time on March 10.

Earlier, the National Payment Card System (NSPK) reported that Visa and Mastercard payment systems cards will work until the expiration date, and then the bank itself will issue the MIR card.

The National Payment Card System recalled that Russians can use a joint card of two MIR payment systems - UnionPay to pay for purchases and withdraw cash abroad.

As stated in the Central Bank, Visa and Mastercard cards of Russian banks will continue to work in Russia after both American companies announced the suspension of services in the country.

The regulator stressed that cross-border transactions with these cards will not be available.
