Inditex keeps its 527 stores open in Russia, its second market after Spain, with

more than 9,000 employees

, while Tendam, which has 50 stores in that country, analyzes the situation resulting from the Russian invasion in Ukraine.

Specifically, the company founded by Amancio Ortega, who decided last week to close its almost 80 stores in Ukraine when the invasion began, is one of the Spanish companies with the greatest exposure to Russia, where it continues to operate normally, as can be seen of sales websites in Russia, which are still active.

Russia is the second most important market for the company in number of stores, behind Spain, where it has

more than 1,300 establishments

.

Specifically, Inditex has a network in this country, made up of 86 Zara, 87 Pull & Bear, 53 Massimo Dutti, 106 Bershka, 76 Stradivarius, 63 Oysho, 44 Zara Home and 12 Uterqüe, integrated into Massimo Dutti.

Among the 30 world companies most exposed to the war, Inditex is the only Spanish that appears, according to a report by the market analysis firm MacroYield.

In this way, Inditex maintains its activity in Russia after other companies in the textile sector such as H&M, with 168 establishments, and Mango, with 120 stores in Russia, of which 65 are franchises, have decided to leave the country.

Industry sources consulted by

Europa Press

have specified that the number of stores that Inditex has in Russia is not comparable to other textile brands, while adding that companies such as Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Starbucks or McDonald's continue their activity in the country, as well as other brands in the luxury sector.

For their part, from Tendam they have indicated to

Europa Press

that they are analyzing the situation to adopt a decision on the 50 establishments that the firm owns in Russia, "with all the options on the table."

Mango decided yesterday to "temporarily cease" its operations in Russia and close all its stores and e-commerce, in addition to stopping its shipments to the country, while H&M announced its intention to temporarily interrupt its sales in Russia as a result of the "tragic" events in Ukraine.
