In times like these, entrepreneurs also have to ask themselves what position they actually want to take in the Ukraine war.

While corporations like VW and Ikea are pausing their business in Russia, companies without direct business in the country are also publicly positioning themselves against the Russian war of aggression.

Maybe that's why the German discounters and supermarkets thought it was a gesture of solidarity if they removed all Russian goods from their range.

This was announced by retailers such as Rewe, Edeka and Aldi this week.

They want to set an example, it sounds from the otherwise silent press offices.

How stupid!

Firstly, the range of Russian products in retail is considered small. Aldi Süd, for example, only sells one brand of vodka from Russia.

Secondly, retailers will have to adapt their range of products one way or another due to the sanctions and the disrupted flow of goods that this entails.

And thirdly – and this is the most important point: what signal is this sending to the Russian-born citizens of our country?

Instead of division, one thing is needed above all: cohesion.

People of all ages, genders and backgrounds go shopping in the supermarket.

This should remain so in the future.
