The UAE and Latvia launch an economic cooperation program of 6 axes

The government of the United Arab Emirates and the government of the Republic of Latvia agreed on an economic cooperation program of six axes, which included the development of cooperation in the fields of: trade and investment, innovation and advanced technology, transport and logistics, agriculture and food, energy, education, and science.


Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, stressed during the meeting of the second session of the joint economic committee between the two countries, which was held in Dubai recently, that economic relations are currently witnessing great momentum in various fields, in light of the efforts made by both sides to develop them and expand their means and horizons and diversify Its activities, pointing out that Latvia is a promising economic destination and an important trading partner for the UAE in the Baltic region.

He added: “Over the past years, we have achieved pioneering levels of economic partnerships, and we will work during the coming period to develop channels of cooperation and develop this partnership in a number of new and future fields, foremost of which is the knowledge economy, and new economy sectors such as innovation, small and medium enterprises, artificial intelligence, and technologies. Modern digital, renewable energy and industry, information and communication technology, as well as key vital sectors for cooperation, such as trade, investment, tourism, aviation, logistics, health and education.



Al Zeyoudi invited Latvian companies to explore the benefits and incentives of the business environment in the UAE, and to take advantage of the country's strategic location and its position as a global capital for trade, investment, finance and business, and a vital gateway to the markets of the Middle East, Asia and Africa.


For his part, Deputy Minister of State for the Latvian Ministry of Economy, Raymonds Lapins, said that bilateral cooperation between Latvia and the UAE is based on the common goals and interests of the two countries, noting that "Expo 2020 Dubai" provided clear evidence of the promising prospects for the partnership between the two countries, as it is one of the most important exhibitions. success in generating new job opportunities.
