The retail price of regular gasoline this week was 172.8 yen per liter on a national average, up 0.8 yen from last week.

Although the price increase is suppressed by government subsidies, the price has increased for eight consecutive weeks.

According to the Petroleum Information Center, which is commissioned by the government to investigate gasoline prices, the retail price of regular gasoline as of 28th last month was 172.8 yen per liter on average, up 0.8 yen from last week.

The over-the-counter price of kerosene was 2033 yen per 18 liters on average, up 13 yen from last week.

In both cases, the price has risen for 8 consecutive weeks.

This is because crude oil prices are rising due to the effects of Russia's military invasion of Ukraine.

The government is subsidizing oil companies to reduce wholesale prices of gasoline and other products.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry explains that this measure has suppressed the price increase of gasoline by 5.4 yen per liter, but the subsidy has already reached the upper limit of 5 yen per liter, and the crude oil price rises. The situation is such that the minute cannot be suppressed.

For this reason, the government plans to announce additional measures later this week.
