In order to promote the spread of local 5G, which uses high-speed, large-capacity communication within a limited range, NTT East has decided to start a service for businesses at a lower price than before.

Local 5G is capable of high-speed, large-capacity wireless communication within a limited range and can send high-definition video without delay, but the problem was that the cost of installation and operation was high.

Under these circumstances, NTT East has decided to start a service for businesses that has reduced the price of local 5G to about one-fifth compared to the past in May.

The company's basic plan is to reduce the total usage fee for the first five years by sharing the network equipment that has been created for each business operator and streamlining maintenance and operation to keep prices down. That's about 20 million yen.

We are expecting the use of robots for factory automation and autonomous driving, and we are aiming to introduce thousands of cases in the next five years.

Mr. Daishi Masuyama, General Manager of NTT East Japan, said, "We hope that DX on-site using local 5G will improve the quality of life and the competitiveness of Japan as a whole."

Regarding local 5G, NEC is also planning to start a service to lower prices from this month, and it will be interesting to see if the price reduction will promote its spread.
