Emirates Steel discusses with a Mauritanian company the production of iron oxide pellets

Emirates Steel announced the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding with the "National Company for Industry and Mines of Mauritania", with the aim of determining the feasibility of establishing a joint company to produce iron ore ore pellets.

Under the 18-month agreement, which was signed by the CEO of Arkan Group and the CEO of Emirates Steel, Eng. Saeed Ghamran Al Rumaithi, and the CEO of the National Company for Industry and Mining, Mohammed Al-Talidi, the two companies will discuss ways of cooperation and joint plans regarding the production of iron oxide pellets. , which is the raw material used in direct reduction units for iron.


Eng. Saeed Al-Rumaithi said that the cooperation with the National Company for Industry and Mining comes within the framework of the efforts exerted towards translating the objectives of the national strategy for industry and the "300 billion project" and achieving self-sufficiency.



He stressed that the increase in the production of high-quality minerals and materials will support national industries, as well as consolidate the country's position as a leading international center on the export map, thus enhancing the company's presence in more than 50 countries importing Emirates steel products.

He continued: “Our investment in the production of this basic raw material is of great importance, as it will provide a stable and stable supply of raw materials that will enhance our resilience in facing the challenges and fluctuations witnessed in the global market for raw materials, and will also support our ambitious growth plans aimed at expanding our portfolio to include flat iron products. ».


For his part, the CEO of the Mauritanian National Company for Industry and Mines, Mohamed Al-Talmidy, said that the agreement concluded with Emirates Steel plays a pivotal role in paving the way for large investments that will benefit both parties, and will support the industry and local communities in the UAE and Mauritania.

He added, "Such projects specialized in the production of iron ore pellets, at the level of the Middle East and North Africa region, will contribute to accelerating the pace of development within the regional steel industry, and will enhance its competitive capabilities in the regional and global market," noting that Mauritania has the largest reserves of ore.
