"Restrictions on Russia's ability to use foreign currencies, such as the dollar, the euro - all this will only strengthen the Russian ruble," the senator believes.

She noted that such sanctions pressure on an independent state will become a problem for the economies of those countries that apply it.

“Russia has already developed political immunity to these methods, and in this regard, we want to remind our foreign policy opponents that only equal dialogue and subsequent mutually beneficial cooperation are constructive in foreign policy,” she concluded.

Earlier, the EU countries agreed on sanctions against Russia in the financial, energy, transport sectors, as well as on visa issues.

US President Joe Biden said that new US sanctions on Russia would have more consequences than cutting off the SWIFT system.
