Zhongxin Finance, February 24. According to the Ministry of Science and Technology on the 24th, recently, Chinese scientists have made new breakthroughs in the preparation and performance of enamel-like composite materials.

According to reports, tooth enamel is mainly composed of regular parallel arrangement of hydroxyapatite nanowires, a small amount of biological proteins and amorphous intergranular phase (AIP). key to performance.

In this study, researchers designed AIP-coated hydroxyapatite nanowires to obtain artificial tooth enamel composites with enamel-like structures from the atomic scale to the macroscopic scale by bidirectional freezing arrangement in the presence of polyvinyl alcohol. .

In a series of experimental tests, the prepared enamel composite exhibited high stiffness (105 GPa), high hardness (5.9 GPa), high viscoelasticity (5.5 GPa), high strength (143 MPa), high toughness (7.4 MPa) m1/2) and other properties, which are superior to previously reported enamel-like composite materials and biological materials such as enamel, bone, and shell mother-of-pearl.

This study also designed a multi-scale enamel-like composite synthesis route based on "macro synthesis and controllable assembly of nanostructural units", and realized the controllable preparation of enamel-like composites with similar structure to tooth enamel. Composite materials are expected to become a new generation of dental restorative materials.
