A month ago, there was an accident where a pile of dirt collapsed at a quarry in Yangju, killing three workers.

It is also the first case in which the Serious Disaster Punishment Act is applied, but it is known that the representative of Sampyo Industries, who initially said that it would cooperate with the investigation, changed its attitude and did not unlock the cell phone.

Reporter Jo Yoon-ha reports exclusively.

On the 11th, the investigation team of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, which raided the headquarters of Sampyo Industries, secured the cell phone of CEO Lee Jong-shin, who was charged with violating the Act on the Punishment of Serious Accidents.

This is to check what instructions were given before and after the accident in which three workers were killed in the quarry collapse.

However, it is known that no progress has been made in the investigation until the full moon is over.

It is said that CEO Lee is holding on without giving out his iPhone password.

There is currently no way for law enforcement agencies to unlock the iPhone unless you open it.

On the day of the accident, the CEO issued a statement in his own name, stating that he would faithfully participate in the investigation, and was doing the exact opposite.

In the investigation by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, it is known that a clue was found that Sampyo Industrial could have known the possibility of an accident in advance.

Before the accident, it was found that safety measures were not properly implemented, even though the on-site worker reported that "the wall is cracked and dangerous".

[Park Young-man / Attorney: There is obviously a risk, and we need to investigate it, but if we say that we did not properly investigate, I think there will be some dispute in terms of the law.

I prepared a procedure, but I just prepared it and didn't implement it properly...

Also, when mowing the soil, the law requires it to be cut gently at 45 degrees or less, but Sampyo Industries is known to cut more steeply.

Sampyo Industries has responded to a reporter's question about its position, saying, "We are diligently working on the investigation, and we cannot give more details because of the investigation."
