We have to tell you a secret: for several months, we have been frightened by the price of small cars which, in the past, were "affordable" (under 20,000 €).

But why are cars getting so expensive?

There are several reasons: bigger, more technological with complex pollution control systems but above all, safer!

This last point has a huge influence on prices.

In fact, to obtain the maximum of 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests, a car today must have a whole series of driving aids which often relieve the driver of responsibility!

At Dacia, you can forget a good part of these (often useless) driving aids.

The manufacturer offers the bare necessities.

But is the Jogger a dangerous car?

Not at all !

It's just that she is not able to drive "on her own" in certain situations.

Without these many assistances, a car therefore becomes much cheaper.

In addition, Dacia benefits from engines and technologies already financially amortized by Renault.

This explains why the price of a Jogger varies between 14,990 and 18,950 €, depending on the level of finish and the number of seats.

And at that price, what can you expect?

First of all, a Dacia whose look is becoming increasingly sexy: this Jogger is a mix between station wagon, MPV, crossover and SUV with its plastic wheel arches.

But don't be fooled by this adventurous appearance and its generous ground clearance because it is only available in front-wheel drive, leaving the 4x4 field free for the Duster.

7 real seats

Don't expect foamed plastics but the assembly seemed very serious to us.

Frankly, for the price, we are not robbed!

It must also be said that the 2nd row offers 3 real seats and that in the 7-seater version (750 € more expensive), accessibility to the 3rd row is very easy.

On the mechanical side, two blocks of 999 cm3 are offered: a 100 horsepower engine that can run on… LPG and a 110 horsepower turbo petrol engine, both associated with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

A little tight to carry 7 people?

Not necessarily because without assistance, with ultralight seats, without 4x4 and without automatic gearbox, the Jogger weighs less than 1,300 kg in 7 places!

Thanks to this lightness, during our test, we were pleasantly surprised by the willingness of the mechanics.

In short, as often with Dacia, this new model represents a smart and rational purchase.

And if you want to "ensure the future" with an electrified model, know that a hybrid Jogger will arrive in 2023. But it will be more expensive...
