Clean, natural and renewable, solar technology, which produces green and waste-free electricity, offers an interesting alternative to fossil fuels.

Formerly very expensive, the cost of installing solar panels has fallen considerably over the past decade, with prices falling by 40% on average.

A boon for individuals, for whom this solution of the future becomes profitable in about ten years.

Does taking advantage of the sun's energy to produce your own electricity appeal to you?

We help you to develop your project as well as possible.

Calculate your needs well

Previously, households tended to resell all of their electricity to EDF, but today many are opting for partial resale.

The electricity produced is thus used to cover your own consumption and only the surplus is resold.

First of all, you will therefore have to define what your household's energy expenditure is in kWh, in order to know what the electricity production under your roof should be.

Your consumption depends on the surface area of your home, but also on its energy class, your heating system, the number of household appliances you have and the number of people living in your home.

Once your needs have been defined, you can estimate the power required for your installation to be profitable.

This is expressed in kilowatts-peak, or kWp,

The price of the panels depends essentially on this power.

Material (panels, solar inverter and meter), installation and connection included, count between 9,000 and 12,000 € for panels with a power of 3 kWp according to the Agency for Ecological Transition (Ademe).

Note that the tariffs for the resale of electricity to the public service are set by decree and change every quarter.

For information, in the 1st quarter of 2022, the price per kWh was 17.89 euro cents for a power less than or equal to 3kWp, for the resale of all of your production, compared to 10 cents for the sale of your surplus .

Take into account climatic conditions

Unlike other sources of energy available at all times, such as geothermal energy or hydraulics, the production of electricity from photovoltaic installations can only take place in the presence of solar rays.

However, with regard to the rate of sunshine, all French regions are not equal.

While the Mediterranean rim enjoys more than 300 days of good weather per year, the North, Brittany and the East only enjoy 150 to 200 days of sunshine.

Thus, for the same installation of photovoltaic panels with a power of 3 kWp, the yield will be more than 3,500 kWh in the PACA region, against 2,500 kWh on average in Hauts-de-France.

A figure that remains sufficient to be profitable over time!

To maximize your production, be sure to orient the panels due south, so that they benefit from the sun throughout the day, and avoid shady areas (trees, neighboring buildings) so as not to be deprived of light.

Find out about aid

Like most energy renovation projects, the installation of solar panels is eligible for aid.

Installations that allow self-consumption are thus eligible for an investment bonus, variable according to its power and spread over the first five years of operation.

For example, in the 1st quarter of 2022, the amount of the bonus was €380/kWp for an installation with a power less than or equal to 3kWp.

Similarly, photovoltaic installations connected to the network with a power of less than or equal to 3 kWp can benefit from reduced-rate VAT (10%).

Finally, think about possible local aid.

Ask your communities, town hall, county council or regional council to find out about the financial support you could benefit from.

Beware of scams!

Unfortunately, unscrupulous companies are taking advantage of the enthusiasm for these infrastructures to defraud individuals.

Inflated bills, promises of non-existent financial aid, installation of defective panels, damaged roofs, non-connection to the electricity network… the causes of litigation can be numerous.

To avoid this kind of setback, take the time to find out before signing anything.

In particular, you can consult the sites of photovoltaic specialist associations, such as the GPPEP (group of private photovoltaic electricity producers) on Gppep.org and the Hespul association on Photovoltaique.info, which are full of practical advice.
