A venture company in Tokyo has announced that it has succeeded in raising and spawning coral that is sensitive to changes in the environment in an aquarium that uses artificial seawater.

It was the "edacommon coral" that inhabited the warm and shallow sea that succeeded in spawning, and it is said that it is difficult to spawn in an artificial environment because it is sensitive to changes in the environment, so it was targeted at children etc. Venture companies in Tokyo that provide environmental education have been working on spawning in aquariums for three years.

Edacommon coral is grown in an aquarium filled with artificially adjusted artificial seawater, along with fish and shellfish, as well as more than 10 types of coral, while controlling the water temperature, water quality, and amount of light. Was done.

And when I continued to adjust the water temperature from August last year so that it would lay eggs this month, it was confirmed that it lays eggs on the 16th.

Spawning began around 7:30 pm, and round grains with a diameter of about 0.5 mm were observed to slowly float from the coral.

According to this company, it is rare to grow coral in a tank using artificial seawater and lay eggs, and it was possible to control the water temperature and lay eggs about 4 months earlier than it should be.

Yota Takakura, the representative of a venture company, says, "I want to be able to increase coral and study detailed ecology."
