The retail price of regular gasoline this week was 171.4 yen per liter on average nationwide, up 0.2 yen from last week.

Although the price increase has been suppressed to some extent by government measures, the subsidy amount has already reached the upper limit of 5 yen per liter and is expected to increase further next week.

According to the Petroleum Information Center, which is commissioned by the government to investigate gasoline prices, the retail price of regular gasoline as of the 14th was 171.4 yen per liter on average, up 0.2 yen from last week.

The price has risen for 6 consecutive weeks and has been at the highest level for the first time in about 13 years.

In addition, the over-the-counter price of kerosene was 2011 yen per 18 liters on average nationwide, an increase of 6 yen from last week.

The price has risen for 6 consecutive weeks, which is also the highest level in about 13 years.

The government has been implementing an unusual measure to reduce the wholesale price of gasoline etc. by subsidizing the oil retailer since 27th last month, and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said that this measure will cost 3.8 yen per liter of gasoline. It is said that the increase in retail price was suppressed by 3.7 yen per liter of kerosene.

However, the subsidy amount has already reached the upper limit of 5 yen per liter.

Wholesale prices are expected to rise as crude oil prices rise, and retail prices for gasoline and kerosene are expected to rise further next week.
