Director Hong Sang-soo won the Berlin International Film Festival for the third year in a row.



Director Hong won the Silver Bear Jury Grand Prize for his 27th feature film 'A Novelist's Film' at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival Awards Ceremony held.



The jury's grand prize is the second prize after the Golden Bear Award, which is the best picture award.



This is the fourth consecutive Silver Bear Award, after winning the Best Director Award for 'The Woman Who Ran' in 2020 and the Best Screenplay Award for 'Introduction' last year.



'Novelist's Movie' is the story of a novelist Jun-hee, who goes to the bookstore of her junior who has disappeared, takes a walk alone, and meets a film director and a couple and actors.



Jun-hee convinces actress Gil-soo that she wants to make a movie together.



Lee Hye-young, who first worked with director Hong in 'In Front of Your Face', which was invited to the Cannes Film Festival last year, plays the novelist Jun-hee.



Director Hong, who went on stage, said, "I really did not expect it. I was so surprised," and "I don't know what to say."



Kim Min-hee, who is director Hong's lover and who appeared as Gil-soo in this movie, was brought to the stage.



Director Hong was invited to compete at the Berlin Film Festival in 'Night and Day' (2008), 'Nobody's Daughter Hae-won' (2013), 'On the Beach at Night Alone' (2017), 'The Woman Who Ran' (2020) , the sixth after 'Introduction' (2021).



'On the Beach at Night Alone' won the Silver Bear for Best Actress for actress Kim Min-hee, and 'The Woman Who Ran' won the Silver Bear for Best Director.



At this awards ceremony, the highest honor, the Golden Bear, was awarded to Spanish female director Carla Simone's 'Alcalas'.



The Best Director Award (Silver Bear Award) went to Claire Denis for 'Boss Size of the Blade', and the Best Leading Actor (Silver Bear Award) for 'Raviye' went to Meltem Kaptan, respectively.
