Recently, with the emergence of the epidemic, an insurance product called "isolation insurance" has rapidly become popular, causing widespread concern in the society.

The so-called isolation insurance refers to the insured who is isolated due to the new crown pneumonia epidemic during the protection period, and can receive corresponding insurance subsidies during the isolation period.

From the perspective of related products, the average monthly premium for isolation insurance is 6 yuan to more than 10 yuan, and the isolation allowance ranges from 150 yuan/day to 1,000 yuan/day.

There are also some websites, with slogans such as "Isolation compensation, isolation and earning" prominently written on the isolation insurance sales page.

Unexpectedly, the isolation insurance that hit social needs in this way quickly fell into the dilemma of narrow coverage, too many exemption clauses, and high claims disputes.

Judging from the concentrated complaints of consumers, it is mainly due to the difficulty in claim settlement, such as being quarantined but not getting paid, the claim settlement documents are very demanding, and the surrender fee is abnormally high.

Similar embarrassment to isolation insurance has occurred from time to time in the development of the insurance industry in recent years.

From the initial drunk driving insurance, to the high-drinking insurance, regret insurance, and night owl insurance specially designed for the World Cup, to smog insurance, vehicle lottery insurance, etc., the debate and regulatory correction of innovation and show has never stopped.

This time is no exception. In the face of many problems such as the excessively popular sales of isolation insurance and the soaring of claims complaints, the Property and Casualty Insurance Department of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission recently issued the "Emergency Notice on Regulating the Operation of the "Isolation" Allowance Insurance Business". , requiring insurance companies to regulate related products, not to conduct one-sided propaganda and malicious hype for the purpose of attracting consumers' attention, and to report the situation of self-inspection and rectification to the Property and Casualty Insurance Department of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission or the directly-controlled dispatched office before February 28.

  What happened to isolation insurance?

In recent years, with the further segmentation of the insurance market, the market's requirements for insurance products to provide diversified and innovative products according to changes in economic life have also increased.

From this point of view, the original intention of the isolation insurance is understandable.

The listing of isolation insurance is now a hot sale, indicating that the market demand exists.

Being quarantined due to the impact of the epidemic will not only bring a lot of inconvenience to daily life, but may also suffer some economic losses due to being unable to go out to work due to isolation. Solving the worries of the people is exactly where the insurance economic compensation function comes in.

But truth and falsehood are often only one step away, even when it comes to innovative insurance products.

If you only want to attract attention and grab attention, and then deviate from the original intention of insurance protection, the products designed are low-priced and low-quality, and even cannot cover the possible risks at all. This kind of show-style pseudo-innovation should stop immediately.

Indeed, although there are a large number of insurance products in my country, the indisputable fact is that most of them tend to be homogeneous.

Compared with the mature foreign insurance market, the innovative design of insurance products has significantly lower gold content and conformity with social needs.

In this regard, China's insurance industry still has a lot of room to innovate products following social needs, and there is still a long way to go.

So how should we correct the deviation between the isolation insurance guarantee and the real needs of the people?

The direction is clearly stated in the "Notice" of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission: Insurance companies should correct their business philosophy, effectively put the people at the center, based on the actual needs of insurance consumers, and comprehensively consider insurable interests and risks. Develop products in accordance with laws and regulations, and set reasonable conditions for liability exemption and claims settlement.

It is not just isolation insurance. If the above requirements can be implemented in the design of all insurance products, it will become a kind of conscious awareness, and the problem of insurance innovation will be solved.
