It is because of this lack of electronic components that video game consoles are sometimes missing or that those who get their hands on a new vehicle wait months.
And if the end of the tunnel will not pierce in the very short term, some manufacturers are beginning to predict the end of supply tensions in the coming weeks.

The challenge of local production
First there is Foxconn, the Taiwanese assembler of Tech products, the world's No. 1, in particular for Apple, which spoke of a major improvement from the end of the 1st quarter of 2022. The other giant, the American Intel, also expressed his optimism while being aware that the constraints were not going to disappear all at once.
François Candelon, associate director of the Boston Consulting Group, however, tempers the situation, considering that the increases in production capacity are not the same everywhere and demand will always remain just as high.

"6% in 2022 for the increase in capacity, we are talking about the increase in demand which is beyond 15%. I remain cautious. Whether it is car manufacturers or smartphone manufacturers, we will have to that they are prepared to pay significantly higher prices."
Producing locally to ensure sovereignty will be the challenge for the next few years.
The European Union has just announced the ambition to quadruple its production of semiconductors by 2030 to achieve a world share of 20% in durable and latest-generation chips.
