According to a survey, in the third year of the corona pandemic, more than 50 percent of people in Germany are planning a longer holiday trip again.

“More than every second German (57 percent) is already certain that they will be going on vacation this year.

This corresponds to 27 percent more than 12 months ago," reported the Hamburg Foundation for Future Issues of British American Tobacco (BAT) on Tuesday.

"After two years now, many Germans seem to have gotten used to this situation and feel a little security in uncertain times thanks to the measures taken by tour operators."

According to its own statements, the foundation had more than 3,000 people over the age of 18 questioned about their travels last year and their holiday plans for this year for their latest tourism analysis in December and January.

According to this, at least 49 percent said that they had packed their bags at least once in 2021, after it was only a good one in three in 2020 in the first Corona year.

"This means that the value is still the second lowest since reunification, but at the same time it also shows how important vacation and travel is (again) for German citizens," is the conclusion of the foundation.

“Citizens are tired of corona and no longer want to be confronted with the pandemic around the clock.

They long for the sun, the beach and the sea, they want to be on the move again and leave their insecurity at home if possible,” said the scientific director of the foundation, Ulrich Reinhardt.

“The chances of this are good and with a high vaccination rate and fewer infections, travel warnings and restrictions will also decrease.”
