Tunisair plans to lay off about 1,000 employees

Tunisian Airlines CEO Khaled Al-Shelli confirmed today, Thursday, that the company intends to lay off about 1,000 of its employees within two or three years, starting in 2022, as part of plans to ease the financial difficulties experienced by the state company, according to "Reuters".

"The company will return to its normal place and overcome difficulties through the enhancement of its fleet and an ambitious reform program," Al-Shelly said during the reception of the A320neo.

And Tunisian media announced, earlier, that "Tunisian Airlines recorded a net loss of more than 336 million dinars in 2020, compared to 18.9 million dinars in 2019.


The radio indicated, quoting the report of public enterprises published by the Ministry of Finance, that this loss came as a result of a decrease in the revenues from operating the lines. Tunisian Air.

She stressed that "the costs related to the staff significantly affected the competitiveness of Tunisair, increasing by 11.6% in 2020".
