This Friday, Prime Minister Jean Castex called on Medef to force some sectoral branches to increase their minimum wages.

On Europe 1, the president of Medef, Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux, explained the phenomenon was marginal and that the employers' organization did not have the power to force these branches to increase wages.

Obviously, salary increases are not for everyone.

This Friday, Jean Castex, the Prime Minister, said at the microphone of France 2 that certain sectoral branches continued to pay their employees below the minimum and called on the Medef to put them in tune with the other branches.

"You have a certain number of professional branches where there are still minima which are even lower than the Smic. I said it to the Medef: 'put all your energy into ensuring that the professional branches where the minima not been increased can be increased in a short time,'" he said.

"There are still three branches which do not negotiate and which are not at Medef, including hairdressers", relativized Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux, the president of Medef, guest of Europe 1 this Friday.

“Where I think he is wrong is that no organization has a red or green button to say, 'do this, do that',” he added.

"Each branch, each company is autonomous."

"The law of the market is in favor of employees"

The president of the employers' organization was reassured about the salary increases to come.

"The wage increases that we see arriving in companies are higher than inflation", predicted at the microphone of Europe 1 the boss of Medef who cited as an example the emblematic case of catering, which "increased its minima very significantly - 10 to 16% - depending on the case".

"The law of the market, the law of supply and demand, is rather in favor of employees today. All professions are in tension. I do not see a boss who does not have a recruitment problem. I I don't have a barometer to summarize the wage increases, but they are significant, above inflation, and in almost all sectors," he added.
