The First Vice President and Minister of Economic Affairs,
Nadia Calviño
, has asked the Popular Party this Thursday to
stop "boycotting" the country with her visits to Brussels
to question and raise doubts in the European Commission about the distribution made by the Government of
European recovery funds.
"I ask you to stop the boycott in the European institutions", Calviño has claimed to the PP deputies, whom he has accused of having an
"attitude contrary to patriotism"
during his appearance in the European Affairs Commission of the Congress of Deputies , to which he has gone on his own initiative to account for the execution of the Recovery Plan.
His request came after the PP once again questioned the presumed
discretion
with which the Executive has distributed the funds to date, and one day after a delegation of ten Spanish mayors visited Brussels to denounce the management of the funds before the Commission and the European Parliament.
Calviño has stressed that
94% of the money distributed to the autonomous communities
(that is, 10,595 million of a total of 11,200 million euros) have been distributed within the framework of the
sectoral conferences,
in which the autonomous communities participate, while only 6% (2,415 million) have been distributed according to objective criteria of general interest or to regions with special characteristics, such as coal or ultraperipheral regions.
It has also confirmed the Government's intention to execute some 25,000 million euros of the Plan in the first half of the year and the Executive's plan to
present an addendum to the plan to Brussels
in order to also be able to access the
loans
that the EU has made available to us. , as told by this medium.
Criticism for the execution
The minister has been criticized for the slow pace of execution and the lack of control over what volume of capital has already reached the real economy.
"Can you tell me a single company to which the European funds managed by her Ministry have reached? The PP deputy,
Pablo Hispán
, has rebuked the minister.
For her part,
María Muñoz
, from Ciudadanos, has insisted on the need to set up an
independent agency
that can control the execution, to which Calviño has responded by stressing that "no country of the European Union has created an independent agency to manage the funds recovery, but none of them have an ad hoc sectoral conference or a specific dialogue table like we do".
The vice president has avoided commenting on the
update of her macroeconomic table
, which maintains that the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) this year will be 7%, almost one and a half points more than what the European Commission forecasts, which today has placed the forecast GDP growth at 5.6%, one tenth above the estimate in its latest projection.
