See which duvets fail

In order to continue to pay attention to the quality of down and feather quilt products and better guide consumption, the Consumer Protection Committee of Hebei Province recently conducted a comparative test on 20 types of down and feather quilt products on the market.

This comparative test involved 20 samples, all of which were purchased by the staff of the Provincial Consumer Protection Committee as ordinary consumers from offline shopping malls and online e-commerce platforms.

Among them, there are 7 offline large-scale shopping malls (Beiguo Mall, Credit Building), and 13 online e-commerce platforms (JD.com, Tmall).

According to the types of down and feather quilts, there are 18 duvets and 2 feather quilts.

Prices range from 279 yuan to 2,399 yuan.

The results showed that among the 20 samples, 15 samples including "Mercury" and "Mengjie Baby" performed better and all met the standard requirements; 5 samples including "CELEN", "Fleece Sister" and "Arctic Velvet" deviate from the standard requirements, the main problem is It is one or more problems such as the inconsistency of the filling and down composition, insufficient down filling, low down content, low bulkiness, non-conformity of fabric fiber content with the nominal, and non-standard product instructions for use.

Insufficient goose down in 3 sample duvets

Down is divided into goose down and duck down. Under the same conditions, goose down has better thermal insulation performance than duck down, and the price is relatively higher.

Therefore, there are phenomena in the market that duck down is passed off as goose down, and goose down and duck down composite products are passed off as goose down products.

Eleven of the 18 duvet samples in this test were clearly identified as goose down duvets.

According to QB/T 1193-2012 "Goose down with a down content of 80% and above only needs to be distinguished from goose/duck down", the content of duck down should be less than or equal to 15%.

The test found that the duck down content of 3 samples of "CELEN" 100 spring and autumn quilts, "Velvet sister" down quilt, and "SIANDA" HeatFit-goose down floor heating quilt is more than 15%, which means that the goose down content is less than 85%.

Among them, "CELEN" 100 spring and autumn quilts have a duck down content of 51.7%, far exceeding its nominal value and standard requirements, and the nominal goose down quilt is not worthy of its name.

The test results also showed that the duck down and down content of the samples of 8 brands including "Ronghui Liangpin", "Mingdu Home Furnishing", "Fuanna", "ROYALCOVER", "MJ BABY Mengjie Baby", "Anshuibao", "Yiting" and "Mercury" were average. Less than 15%, in line with the standard requirements, the performance is better.

Insufficient cashmere filling and substandard cashmere content

The thermal insulation effect of down products is related to many factors, the most important being the filling amount of down and the down content of down.

The actual weight of the stuffing in down products is called down filling.

The amount of down filling directly affects the warmth retention of down products. The more filling, the better the effect.

QB/T 1193-2012 standard requires that the amount of down filling is allowed to have a deviation rate within 5%.

The test found that the nominal down-filling capacity of the "Fleece Sister" duvet was 1700 grams, and the measured quality deviation rate was -22.9%, and the down-filling capacity was obviously insufficient.

Other samples are within the standard allowable deviation range and perform better.

Down products are mainly down to keep warm, and the percentage of down in the down filling is called down content, which is a key indicator to measure the quality of down.

Only those with a down content of 50% can be called "down" products; those with a down content of less than 50% can only be called "feather" products.

The higher the down content, the better the warmth retention.

Some down products are very light and warm because of the high down content.

According to the requirements of the QB/T 1193-2012 standard, the permissible deviation values are different for different down content. For example, goose down and goose down with 30% down content is allowed to have a deviation of -3%, and goose down and goose down with 90% down content is allowed to have a deviation of -3%. There is a -5% deviation.

The test found that "CELEN" 100 spring and autumn quilts have a nominal down content of 95%. According to the standard, a deviation of -5% is allowed, and the down content should not be less than 90%. However, the measured value is only 3.4%, and the deviation is huge; "Yalu "50 White duck down winter quilt has a nominal down content of 50%, and the measured value is only 20%, with a large deviation.

"Sister Velvet" does not indicate the content of velvet and has not been tested.

The bulkiness of the down can also reflect the thermal insulation effect of the down.

In the case of the same amount of down filling, the higher the bulkiness, the better the warmth retention.

The test found that the bulkiness of "CELEN" 100 spring and autumn quilts did not meet the requirements.

"Arctic fleece" has low wool content and does not meet the standard

In this comparative test, the "Arctic Velvet" and "Pierre Cardin" are clearly marked as feather quilts (goose feather quilts), and the filling should be 100% down feathers.

Both samples were not marked with down content. In the feather test, it was found that the "Arctic down" sample had a large standard deviation. Among them, the standard value of feather silk content should be ≤ 5%, and the measured value should be 49.2%; the standard value of damaged wool should be ≤ 5%, the measured value is 14.1%; the standard value of impurities should be less than 3%, and the measured value is 6.4%, indicating that the wool content of this sample is low, and it is called a goose feather quilt.
