Wuxi Zhenze Road Store and Wuxi Changxing Building Store used expired food by tampering, replacing, and tearing up the shelf life labels of prepared food raw materials. Raw materials, dealing with expired food, and failing to use special towels for wiping food contact surfaces, etc., the illegal gains were confiscated by the Market Supervision and Administration Bureau of Xinwu District, Wuxi City and fined more than 690,000 yuan and 670,000 yuan respectively.

  Previously, some media reporters conducted undercover investigations in the above-mentioned two stores, exposing the privately changing labels of expired ingredients and the re-listing of overnight cakes.

  Starbucks has also been on Weibo’s hot search after being exposed by the media for using expired ingredients.

Since then, Starbucks China's official Weibo announced that it has paid attention to reports about two Starbucks stores in Wuxi.

"We are deeply shocked by the food safety issues involved in the report. We are highly concerned about this incident and have closed the two stores immediately and launched an in-depth investigation immediately." (End)
