People's Daily Online, Beijing, February 8 (Reporter Qiao Xuefeng) Recently, the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing released the China Road Logistics Freight Index for January 2022 at 100.5 points, a decrease of 1.89% from the previous month and an increase of 0.4% from the same period last year.

In terms of weekly indices, the first, second and fourth week freight indices rebounded month-on-month, and the third week's freight index dropped month-on-month.

In terms of the index of different models, the index of each model dropped slightly month-on-month, maintaining a slight growth year-on-year but the range narrowed.

The vehicle index, which mainly focuses on bulk commodities and regional transportation, was 101.1 points, a decrease of 1.86% from the previous month and an increase of 0.5% from the same period of the previous year.

In the LTL index, the LTL light cargo index was 98.3 points, a decrease of 2.01% from the previous month and an increase of 0.1% from the same period of the previous year; the LTL heavy cargo index was 100.9 points, a decrease of 1.89% from the previous month and an increase of 0.5% from the same period of the previous year.

The relevant person in charge of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing said that from the perspective of demand, the economy has maintained a stable operation this month. Affected by traditional holiday factors and the spread of the epidemic, the domestic market demand has further slowed down, and the road logistics demand has stabilized and moderated.

PMI data shows that the manufacturing PMI index in January was 50.1%, running above 50% for three consecutive months, while the new orders index remained below 50%.

The person in charge said that from the perspective of supply, due to the return to the hometown during the Spring Festival and the adjustment and control of the epidemic situation in some areas, the supply of pre-holiday transportation capacity fluctuated slightly and fell in shock.

On the whole, historical data shows that during the Spring Festival holiday, road transportation ushered in a traditional off-season, domestic demand continued to shrink, and the freight rate index was seasonally adjusted. Coupled with the impact of the epidemic, freight rates in some regions and routes fluctuated greatly in the short term. The price index fell rapidly.

The person in charge said that, from the perspective of the later period, the economy achieved a stable start at the beginning of the year. Looking at the historical data, the road transportation market is in a period of adjustment and recovery after the holiday, and it is expected that the freight rate index may fluctuate and rebound in the short term.

However, compared with previous years, the lack of market demand, the pressure on business operations and the prevention and control of the epidemic are still more prominent, and the short-term impact on the supply and demand and prices of road transportation is more obvious, and the recovery trend may slow down.
