Dubai Electricity warns customers of fraudulent messages requesting payment of bills

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has revealed that there are fraudulent emails that reach some customers and community members, claiming to be issued by the authority, asking them to pay bills, or answer some questions to win prizes.

The authority clarified that these messages do not arrive from the official domain (dewa.gov.ae), and often include links to fraudulent websites.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority urged all customers and community members not to respond at all to these messages, or to click on any link they contain, and always check the domain name from which the e-mail arrives.

It also called for obtaining official information, by referring to the authority’s official website (https://www.dewa.gov.ae), and the authority’s documented accounts on social media, or contacting the Customer Care Center at the number “04-601-9999.” It confirmed that it is currently working on taking the necessary measures in coordination with the competent authorities.
