Gasoline prices, which had fallen due to the government's oil tax cuts, have recently risen again due to a surge in international oil prices.

The Korea National Oil Corporation oil price information site Offinet announced that the nationwide gas station selling price in the last week of this month was 1,651 won per liter, up 18.9 won from last week.

It rose for two consecutive weeks following last week, and the increase also increased from 10.1 won to 18.9 won.

The price of gasoline in Seoul, the highest price region in the country, rose 19.9 won from the previous week to 1,723.7 won per liter, and Daegu, the lowest price area, recorded 1,624.1 won, up 22.4 won.

Gasoline price reached 1,807 won per liter in the second week of November last year, the highest in over seven years since September 2014.

However, due to the recent surge in international oil prices, it has turned to an upward trend again from last week, 10 weeks after the fuel tax cut.

International oil prices are at their highest level in seven years since October 2014 as geopolitical risks escalated, including the threat of a Russian attack on Ukraine and drone attacks on oil facilities in the United Arab Emirates.

The average price of Dubai crude rose 0.7 USD to 86.5 USD per barrel.
