Masaya Maeda, the president of Canon and retired for health reasons, died of pancreatic cancer on the 19th of this month.

After joining Canon in 1975, Mr. Maeda was involved in the camera business as an engineer, and in the 2000s, he was the driving force behind the growth of Canon's digital camera business as a general manager of the business division. I worked on it.



In recognition of his achievements, he was appointed president in 2016 as the successor to the current chairman and president, Fujio Mitarai, but in May he retired for health reasons and became a part-time chief technical advisor.



According to the company, Mr. Maeda died of pancreatic cancer on the 19th of this month.
