Zhongxin Finance, January 27 (Reporter Peng Dawei) German Bosch announced on the 26th that it has established a comprehensive partnership with Cariad, a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group.

The technical cooperation aims to introduce self-driving capabilities into vehicles of the Volkswagen Group brands, allowing drivers to temporarily take their hands off the road.

Specifically, it involves L2-level hands-off partial autonomous driving systems for urban, suburban and highway driving, and L3-level conditional autonomous driving systems for highway driving.

The first automated driving systems will be assembled and applied in 2023.

Volkswagen Group, headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany, and Bosch Group, headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, are one of the world's largest auto production groups and one of the world's largest auto parts suppliers, respectively.

It is reported that the cooperation aims to provide drivers with a safer and easier driving experience, and accelerate the introduction of autonomous driving functions in all models.

The two parties hope to adjust the partial and highly automated driving technology to meet the needs of mass production and bring the autonomous driving technology closer to consumers.

The two parties will jointly develop a cutting-edge standardized platform for partial and highly autonomous driving technologies, and apply the platform to a full range of passenger cars under the Volkswagen Group to jointly create autonomous driving functions.

All software components developed jointly by the two parties can also be used in vehicles and ecosystems owned by other manufacturers.

Cariad CEO Dirk Hilgenberg said on the same day that autonomous driving is the key to the future of the automotive industry.

"The two parties will expand the innovation influence of Germany through this cooperation." (End)
