Tax collection, that is, what the Treasury enters through the taxes that citizens and companies pay annually, marked a new historical maximum last year.

In the midst of the crisis, with the economy and society still recovering from the historic crash of 2020,

collections reached 223,382 million after rebounding 15%

.

These figures, according to the Minister of the Treasury, María Jesús Montero, "are not due to tax increases", but are the result of "

sustained, robust growth that creates employment

".

Montero has repeated this idea on several occasions during the press conference that she has offered to advance the figures, something unusual and that is part of a

Government strategy for wanting to transfer good economic data

.

This same Wednesday, and after the IMF ratified on Monday that the expected growth is lower than forecast by the Ministry of Economy, the Government has made the publication of the data from the Active Population Survey (EPA) coincide;

an act by President Sánchez with a group of pensioners after the rise in pensions;

and the aforementioned collection data.
