Gasoline price is the highest in about 13 years.

From the 27th, the government will subsidize oil companies to curb price increases and will be applied at gas stations nationwide.

The national average retail price of regular gasoline was 170.2 yen per liter as of the 24th of this month, up 1.8 yen from the previous week, the highest in 13 years and 4 months.

In order to curb price increases, the government has implemented an unusual measure to subsidize oil companies, which will be applied at gas stations nationwide from the 27th.

The amount of subsidy is 3.4 yen including the amount exceeding 170 yen per liter and the increase in the wholesale price when the original selling company wholesales to the gas station.

The original sellers will sell to gas stations nationwide at a reduced price.

The subsidy also covers kerosene, light oil, and heavy oil, and we will subsidize 3.4 yen per liter based on the price of gasoline.

However, the retail price at the store is decided by each gas station based on each management decision.

It has been pointed out that the business environment may differ depending on the distance from the refinery and whether it is in a highly competitive area such as along a highway, and some stores may not immediately reflect the subsidy in the retail price.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will investigate the situation of the stands in each area.
