While waiting for the terrifying GT2 which is currently finishing its development, the ultimate 911 of the moment is the GT3.
Not the most powerful, but the purest, sportiest, which still has the good taste to remain manageable as long as you show a little common sense behind the wheel.
And above all, it is a competition-ready machine.
In its initial interpretation, the GT3 "announces the color": it is wider, lower and lighter than another 911, and above all receives a huge aerodynamic appendage for the less aggressive and conspicuous.
Precisely what the Touring Pack achieves, in which the huge fixed rear wing is replaced by a movable wing that only deploys above a certain speed.
But for us, less is ultimately more, because while being almost as efficient as the normal GT3, the Tourning pack (re)gains the traditional elegant line of the 911, without losing that attitude that makes it a clearly special 911. .
touch grace
With its 510 hp, the GT3 is therefore much less powerful than a 911 Turbo, for example.
But the sensations are nevertheless much purer, for various reasons.
First, we said it, because it weighs 212 kilos less than the Turbo, and even 80 less than a base Carrera.
Then because the power only passes through the rear wheels, which are also steering, for the first time on the GT3.
It is also possible here to choose between a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic gearbox or… a real 6-speed manual.
Finally, a detail that will speak to connoisseurs, the GT3 receives the front axle of the 911 RSR, a racing car with a well-stocked track record, and that's an understatement.
We can only confirm it: on the road, the 911 GT3 Touring is as special as it looks.
It was in Germany that we discovered it, but not on the Autobahn.
Porsche took us on the mountainous and winding roads of the Trier region.
And on this very miserly route in straight lines, we have touched grace.
Sorry, but repeating these words is unavoidable: the car offers feelings of incredible purity.
She communicates so well that you understand her within minutes.
Formidably sporty, tinged with wildness, ready to let her stern dance, she nevertheless remains considerate and docile.
She never takes sides.
For us, it is the very essence of the 911 spirit, 2022 style. Our favorite version, without the slightest hesitation.
