[Explanation] China Railway Shenyang Bureau Group Co., Ltd. has jurisdiction over the entire province of Liaoning and Jilin, and the railway line is located in the alpine region.

The large temperature difference between day and night can easily lead to changes in the rails.

Now they have a rail flaw detection vehicle called "Rail Doctor". This "artifact" ensures that China's high-speed rail can run faster than the world in the cold winter.

[Explanation] On the evening of January 22, the reporter followed the flaw detection department of Shenyang Construction Machinery Section of China Railway Shenyang Bureau Group Co., Ltd. to film the flaw detection work of the 216km line from Xinmin North Station of Beijing-Harbin High-speed Railway to Chaoyang, Liaoning.

[Explanation] At 23:30, the EMUs have been put into storage for preparation, and the railway section is idle, entering the construction window period.

"Rail Doctor" began to make "B-ultrasound machine" for the rail at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour.

During the operation of high-speed trains, a huge force will be exerted on the rails, and a series of damages such as cracks and nuclear injuries will occur over time.

Our job is to identify these diseases using ultrasonic testing equipment loaded on rail flaw detection vehicles.

Just like the B-ultrasound in the hospital, the full-section scanning of the rail is carried out to check the hidden dangers of the equipment and ensure the safety of the train operation.

[Explanation] The car was brightly lit, and the driver kept his eyes on the front.

In front of the flaw detection console, the flaw detection worker stared at the screen intently.

From time to time came the sound of "toot toot" and "dididi".

Winter is the most frequent season for flaw detection operations. For every 1°C change in temperature, a 1-meter-long rail will change by 0.0118 mm.

Although this data does not seem to have changed much, the overall expansion and contraction force generated by the long rails is very large, and the rails with cracks are prone to fracture under the rolling of the train.

[Explanation] During the flaw detection, the operator reported that the detection data feedback was abnormal, and requested to stop immediately to check.

The outdoor temperature is too low, and the inspection wheel has been covered with thick icicles, which is very difficult to replace.

In just a few minutes, the operator's eyelashes were frosted and his pants were completely soaked and quickly frozen.

[Explanation] From the earliest manual flaw detection methods such as hammering and mirroring, to the later hand-push flaw detectors, to the current rail flaw detection vehicles, equipment and means are constantly being replaced, and the speed of China's high-speed rail is getting faster and faster.

[Explanation] It is 04:40 in the morning when the construction is over. The rail flaw detectors who have completed the detection task will need to compare and analyze the flaw detection data again to ensure that they are not missed or misdiagnosed.

During the Spring Festival travel period, China Railway Shenyang Bureau Group Co., Ltd. has doubled the pressure of transportation inside the tube, and the task volume of "Rail Doctors" has also continued to increase.

They go out day and night to fight the severe cold to ensure the safety of the Spring Festival.
