Qinghai Province is the birthplace of the mother river, the Yellow River. Huangshui is a first-class tributary of the upper reaches of the Yellow River and is known as the "Mother River of Qinghai People".
The Huangshui River Basin carries most of the population, arable land and industrial and mining enterprises in Qinghai Province.
The Qinghai Provincial Department of Natural Resources released a message saying that it is closely linked to Qinghai Province to coordinate the promotion of the protection and comprehensive management of mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes, grasses and sands, systematic management, and the goal of source management, and formed the "Integrated Protection of Mountains, Waters, Forests, Fields, Lakes, Grass and Sand in the Huangshui Basin of Qinghai in the Upper Yellow River". The total investment of the project is 5.5 billion yuan, and the scope of implementation involves 12 districts (counties) in Xining City, Haidong City and Haibei Prefecture, with a total area of 16,000 square kilometers.
