DEWA to complete 16 major power transmission stations during 2021

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) built 16 new main electricity transmission stations during 2021, including 14 132-kV stations with a conversion capacity of 2,100 megavolt-amperes, and two 400-kilo-volt transmission stations with a conversion capacity of 4,000 mega-volt-amperes, in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. and Al Quoz Second, in addition to 222 km of overhead transmission lines of 400 kilovolts and 97 kilometers of ground cables of 132 kilovolts to connect the stations to the main transmission network.
The transport stations feed the areas of: Satwa, Palm Deira, Jebel Ali Industrial First, Umm al-Duman, Al Barsha First, Al Barsha South Third, Mirdif, Wadi Al Safa Second, Al Khiran First, Al Rawya Third, Al Quoz Third, and Business Bay Crossing.
The total cost of these stations and related projects amounted to about two billion and 928 million dirhams.

He added: “The launch of 16 new transmission stations during 2021 comes as part of the authority’s efforts to raise the capacity, efficiency and readiness of the electricity transmission network in the emirate, to meet the future needs of customers, developers and business sectors, while providing an appropriate reserve margin based on the latest smart technologies, as part of the authority’s efforts to enhance Digital transformation in all its service and operational operations.
Al Tayer indicated that the total value of the Authority's investments in existing and completed electricity transmission projects during 2021 amounted to 9.5 billion dirhams, including two billion dirhams for the main transmission projects "400 kV", and 7.5 billion dirhams for the main transport projects "132 kV".
For his part, the Executive Vice President of the Energy Transmission Sector at the authority, Eng. Hussein Lootah, indicated that the completion of these stations required more than 25 million safe working hours, using the latest internationally approved technologies, while ensuring the highest standards of security and safety, explaining that the total transmission stations « The voltage of 132 kV amounted to 321 stations, in addition to 33 stations under construction.
