The dream of winning millions in the millions did not come true on Wednesday evening.

In the lottery game 6 out of 49, the first prize category remained vacant: no player guessed all the winning numbers – 17, 19, 43, 45, 48, 49 and the super number 4 – correctly.

The accumulated, highest possible jackpot of 45 million euros was then paid out and went to the next prize category.

Here six players were correct with their six guessed numbers.

These lottery winners split the prize and each get 7.5 million euros.

The sum goes twice to Baden-Württemberg and once each to Bavaria, Brandenburg, Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia.

This was announced by the spokeswoman for the lead company Lotto Niedersachsen on Thursday in Hanover.

The tipsters are lucky.

On May 3, 2003, there were 117 correct six times.

In this case, the prize money would have been reduced to almost 400,000 euros each.

At that time it was 26,623 euros.

Low odds are more common on low numbers such as birthdays or numbers that form patterns in the playing field.

High rate also in prize class 3

According to the state lottery company, it was Hesse's first million win of the year.

According to Lotto Hessen, it is not yet known who the lucky one is.

The tip was given without a customer card in a sales outlet in Frankfurt.

The rate for five correct numbers plus a super number is also exceptionally high at EUR 184,107.10.

75 players can look forward to this prize.

For comparison: On Saturday, 56 tipsters shared this prize category and also received above-average 22,447 euros.

On Wednesday a week ago, 96 players each accounted for 7439.90 euros.

On average, a good seven million people in Germany regularly play lotto and the like. In view of the high winnings and the possible compulsory payout, a few occasional players or newcomers should still be able to get involved in the most recent draw. Even many a loyal player has probably filled in one or the other box more. A customer from Frankfurt reports that all tickets were sold out in a lottery branch on Tuesday evening. Late tippers could also have been unlucky. The Lotto Hessen server, for example, took an unusually long time shortly before the last possible delivery at 5:59 p.m. to accept orders, if it still worked at all.

Since September 23, 2020, the jackpot for Lotto 6 aus 49 can increase to a maximum of 45 million euros.

Before that, it had been paid out in the 13th drawing if the highest prize category had previously remained vacant.

But forced distributions are rare.

The highest single win in the history of Lotto 6 aus 49 went to North Rhine-Westphalia with around 37.7 million euros.

The jackpot hunt can continue next Saturday, but "only" with probably 3 million euros.
