Klaus Müller, head of the Federal Association of Consumer Organizations, is to become the new head of the Federal Network Agency.
This was confirmed by the chairman of the authority's advisory board, Lower Saxony's Environment and Energy Minister Olaf Lies (SPD), on Wednesday evening of the German Press Agency.
The “Handelsblatt” had previously reported on it.
The "Rheinische Post" had reported that Müller was in discussion for the post.
The Advisory Board of the Federal Network Agency, which is made up of representatives of the Bundestag and the Bundesrat, intends to submit the personnel proposal to the Federal Government.
The former Green Party politician Müller is to succeed the previous incumbent Jochen Homann, who will retire at the end of February.
The Federal Network Agency, based in Bonn, has important powers, for example for the electricity and gas markets and for telecommunications.
It also has extensive tasks in the expansion of the power grids as part of the energy transition.
