The production capacity exceeded 27.7 thousand tons of refrigeration in the first phase

Empower: Operations of Zabeel District Cooling Plant start

Ahmed bin Shafar: "We continue to expand and build new stations that use modern technologies."

The Emirates Corporation for Central Cooling Systems (Empower) announced the start of operations of the Zabeel District Cooling Plant, as part of the first phase, in which the production capacity will reach 27,750 environmentally friendly refrigeration tons.

The Corporation indicated that the total production capacity of the entire plant will reach 50,000 tons of refrigeration upon its completion, as the new Zabeel plant will be linked to the Dubai International Financial Center plant, bringing the production capacity to 112,000 refrigeration tons. It will also serve existing and other “in-progress” projects. The most prominent of these are the buildings of the Dubai International Financial Center, the Dubai World Trade Center, the Emirates Towers, the Wasl1 project and One Zabeel.

The Corporation explained that it was keen to build the "Zabeel plant", which is one of the new generation of district cooling plants, with high-level engineering designs and international standards, as it provided it with advanced equipment and modern technologies, and also ensured its operation on time after the Corporation had been awarded at the end of 2020 a contract worth 164 million dirhams for the construction and equipment of the station project.

Ahmed bin Shafar, CEO of the Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), said: "We are working diligently to expand our operations at an accelerated pace, taking into account global standards of sustainability in terms of production and engineering design," pointing out that the design of the Zabeel plant takes into account and meets the highest international standards in The construction and design of buildings, taking into account the standards of sustainable green buildings, modern urban developments in Dubai, in addition to the general appearance of the area, and the external appearance of the iconic buildings located in the Zabeel area and Sheikh Zayed Road.

He added, "The Zabeel District Cooling Plant uses advanced cooling technologies that are characterized by the lowest consumption of energy and water, as it will include two thermal energy storage units, to enhance the efficiency of energy consumption during peak hours of consumption, in addition to the use of artificial intelligence and treated water technology in the operational processes of the plant, which contribute to reducing energy consumption." Consumption of fresh water and conservation of natural resources.

Bin Shafar stressed that the Corporation continues its expansion and construction of new stations that work with modern technologies within a strategic approach based on the implementation of the planned sustainable development, in accordance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which aims to reduce Electricity and water consumption rates, and making the emirate a global center for the green economy and the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world by 2050.
