Polestar, a Swedish electric vehicle brand, announced its entry into Korea last year.

Polestar 2 will be officially released on the 18th and will enter the domestic market in earnest.

Volvo, which declared 100% electric vehicle production in 2030, also announced that it would unveil a new model, and German Benz, BMW and Audi are also starting to target the Korean market.

Domestic companies are also rushing to prepare.

In the first half of the year, Kia Motors plans to introduce the new Niro EV, and Hyundai Motor plans to launch its second electric vehicle model, the Ioniq 6 and GV70 electrification models.

Along with the explosive growth of electric vehicles, the number of charging facilities, which are essential facilities, also increased 35 times in five years.

However, if you look at each region, the situation is different.

The number of electric vehicles per fast charger is about 24 in Seoul and Incheon, and close to 30 in Busan, indicating that charging competition is fierce.

[Tae-Hwan Park/Electric car driver: (Some places) I think waiting for 20-30 minutes is very inconvenient, in fact.]

[Kim Hee-soo/Electric car driver: (charger) There are some places, and there is only one... .]

It is not possible to increase the number of charging stations at once, so more installations are required where needed.

[Kim Pil-su / President of Korea Electric Vehicle Association: It is not important to supply a few chargers in a random quantity, but it is important to create an environment that makes it possible to charge electric vehicles comfortably while reducing the blind spots of chargers.

] We plan to strengthen the standards for installing charging stations, such as making it mandatory to install electric vehicle charging facilities in the above apartments.
