The Government has decided to set a maximum price of the Covid self-diagnosis tests of 2.94 euros as of this Saturday, as announced by the Minister of Health,
Carolina Darias
.
It is a lower price than that existing in Spanish pharmacies, which ranges between five and eight euros on average, but is 50% higher than what is currently possible to obtain in Germany and France, among other countries, according to data updated to the National Association of Large Distribution Companies (Anged), which places them in both countries below two euros. It also exceeds the average price of 2.10 euros in Portugal.
The Minister of Health has indicated that "the most affordable possible" has been set to find a "balance", because her priority is that "it is available through the pharmaceutical channel."
It has thus confirmed the veto on its sale in supermarkets, which, according to Anged, is what would make the product cheaper as in the countries that allow it, including the aforementioned Germany, France and Portugal.
Darias has hinted that he could have imposed a higher maximum price, but "the price level in neighboring countries has been taken into account."
