Due to the rise in inflation, the rate of remuneration of the Livret A, the preferred savings of the French, should be raised and go from 0.5% to 0.8%.

Calculated by the Banque de France, the rate should be officially announced by the government this week.

No additional measures are planned.

This is good news for the 55 million French people who have a Livret A. The government could decide this week to raise its rate of pay as early as next month.

At issue: the rise in inflation, which reached 5% in the euro zone and 2.8% in France.

The pay rate of the Livret A is calculated according to a very precise formula which takes into account inflation but also money market rates.

The Banque de France is expected to announce the result of these calculations at the end of the week, once the consolidated inflation figures for 2021 are known.

Probable 0.3 point increase

But we already know the major trends and therefore the probable amount of this increase according to the calculations of the director of the Cercle de l'épargne, Philippe Crevel: "We can imagine that the rate of the Livret A would be 0.8% instead of 0.5%. So the gain for a Passbook holder with € 15,000 on his Passbook would be € 45 extra over the year. "

Bruno Le Maire, the Minister of the Economy, has already announced that he will follow the recommendations of the Banque de France.

On the other hand, there will be no additional boost for savers.
