Faced with the desire to make ever more energy savings, the French have voted for wood stoves in recent years.

Their authentic and warm side explains this craze.

But in parallel with very classic models, a little new one is a great success: the Canadian stove.

As its name suggests, it was designed in Canada in the 1970s to withstand the harsh winters of the Far North.

Today it finds its place in our interiors and remains an interesting alternative, both its performance is high and its design up to date.

The strength of steel

The Canadian stove is recognizable by its cylindrical and tubular shape. Originally made of steel, it can heat the home intensely very quickly. In fact, steel is first and foremost a good conductor of heat which raises the temperature in record time. Today, however, there are cast iron models that are more resistant to temperature variations and release heat for longer.

The classic Canadian wood stove is very simple in operation.

This is a principle of convection, which sucks the ambient air through the pipes located on the bottom of the device, heats it and releases it via the convection pipes placed on the top.

Other hybrid models incorporate a radiation system that increases the temperature quickly, while some are capable of heating sanitary water.

This is called a boiling pan.

In any case, this Canadian version is easy to use.

It can be installed in any home equipped with a flue that meets current safety standards.

But like any fireplace, the Canadian stove requires regular maintenance to ensure better performance and to be covered by your home insurance.

Excellent performance and unique design

This type of wood heating is particularly interesting for large spaces because it has an efficiency of about 70%.

By restoring a gentle and continuous heat, it makes it possible to limit the energy expenditure of the home.

Using wood, like a conventional stove, it is also an ecological device which will be a very good alternative to traditional heating methods, which are not very economical and often more polluting.

Thanks to its atypical design, the Canadian stove also brings a touch of originality to the living room.

Its industrial style allows it to interfere without difficulty in modern decorations, as well as those where wood is particularly present.

Compact, it takes up little space and therefore fits into small spaces.

At what price ?

Count between 1,000 and 3,000 euros for a Canadian stove, depending on the power of the device.

But you don't need to think too big.

For example, an 11 kW stove will be enough to heat a well insulated 90 m2 house.
