Honda, an automobile manufacturer, has announced that it will build a dedicated EV = electric vehicle factory in China.

We have set a goal of making all new vehicles EVs and FCVs = fuel cell vehicles by 2040, but first we will hurry to establish a base in China, the world's largest EV market.

According to the announcement, Honda's joint venture in China will build two local EV-specialized plants.

One of these will be built in Wuhan, Hubei Province, with an investment of approximately 72 billion yen, with the aim of starting operations in 2024, two years later.

Honda plans to launch an EV-only brand vehicle in China in the spring, but the new plant plans to produce 120,000 EVs a year, including this model.

According to the automobile market research company MarkLines, the number of EVs sold in China for a year is 1.11 million, which is much higher than 710,000 in Europe and 260,000 in the United States.
