Toyota Motor sold more than 2.33 million new cars in the United States last year, surpassing America's largest GM = General Motors for the first time.

Toyota North America announced on the 4th that the number of new cars sold in the United States in the last year increased by 10% from that of adults to more than 2,332,000 units.

GM General Motors, the largest automobile manufacturer in the United States, sold more than 2,218,000 new cars in the United States last year, and Toyota surpassed GM for the first time.

Due to a global shortage of semiconductors, GM was forced to suspend production at its plants in North America and Mexico, and new car sales in the United States last year were down 12% compared to adults.

Although Toyota reduced production, the impact was limited, and the popularity of hybrid vehicles and other vehicles persisted, increasing sales in the United States.

GM has been the number one in US annual new car sales for many years, and Western media have reported that GM has fallen from the top for the first time since 1931.
