Deutsche Post is honoring the musician David Bowie on his 75th birthday with a special postage stamp.

The 85-cent stamp, which will be issued on January 3, shows Bowie with a guitar in 1984, as the Deutsche Post announced on Thursday in Bonn.

Bowie has redefined music genres and the potential of live performances for generations of music lovers.

The British musician, who died in 2016, would have turned 75 on January 8.

The stamp is available in post offices, in the online shop or by calling the Deutsche Post ordering service. There is also a limited DHL Packset special edition in two sizes with different motifs. The small box visualizes the topic “Berlin”, where Bowie lived and successfully produced music. The larger pack set is dedicated to the subject of "space", which plays an important role in the musician's work. The special editions, each limited to 5,000 pieces, will be available in the Deutsche Post shop from January 7th.

Bowie has created a variety of personalities and relentlessly challenged musical boundaries, the Post said.

He has released timeless albums such as "Space Oddity", "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust", "Heroes", "Let's Dance" and "Heathen".

The last album "Blackstar", released on his 69th birthday, landed number one in more than 20 countries and later won five Grammy Awards.

Bowie died two days after its release on January 10, 2016.
