  Baihetan Hydropower Station is located on the Jinsha River at the junction of Ningnan County, Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County, Yunnan Province. It is equipped with 16 single-unit capacity million-kilowatt hydroelectric generating units with a total installed capacity of 16 million kilowatts, second only to the Three Gorges Hydropower Station. The world's second largest hydropower project is currently the world's largest hydropower project under construction and the largest single-unit capacity.

  According to reports, the rotor is one of the rotating parts of the hydro-generator unit. When the unit is running, the rotor rotates to generate a rotating magnetic field, which cuts the stator windings, thereby generating an induced electric potential and outputting electrical energy.

The rotor of the left bank unit of Baihetan Hydropower Station is mainly composed of a center body, a rotor support, a yoke and a magnetic pole. The outer diameter is about 16.2 meters, the maximum height is about 4.1 meters, the overall weight is about 1,955 tons, and the lifting weight is about 2,100 tons. It is installed by the unit.   In order to achieve the goal of "five cranes in a year" for the rotor of the Baihetan Left Bank Power Station, since December, the Baihetan Project Department of the Fourth Bureau of Hydropower has paid close attention to the rotor hoisting node of Unit 8 and obtained the runner and roof hoisting within a limited time.   At present, the Baihetan Hydropower Station has officially put into operation 6 units, and it is planned that all units will be put into operation in July 2022.

By then, the power station will generate approximately 62.4 billion kilowatt-hours of power annually, save 19.68 million tons of standard coal each year, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 51.6 million tons.
